Certified for your safety

Certifications indicate that we meet a certain standard of competence. We here at Luminousred strive to meet specific guidelines to provide the highest value possible. Here’s what we guarantee for your safety:

FDA approved

The specific wavelengths we use in our pro series are FDA approved. Red and near-infrared light. PBM devices have been cleared for marketing by the FDA through the Premarket Notification/510(k) process as adjunctive devices for temporary pain relief. These FDA clearances are based on the presentation of clinical data to support such claims. The FDA has approved PBM devices to stimulate hair growth and decrease fat deposits.

CE certified

The CE marking is the manufacturer’s declaration that the product meets EU standards for health, safety, and environmental protection. For example, most electrical products must comply with the Low Voltage Directive and the EMC Directive. The Low Voltage Directive is about electrical safety; EMC or Electromagnetic Compatibility means the device will work as intended without interfering with or being affected by any other device’s use or function. 1

CE marking is an administrative marking that indicates conformity with health, safety, and environmental protection standards for products sold within the European Economic Area (EEA). The CE marking is also found on products sold outside the EEA manufactured to EEA standards. The CE marking is recognizable worldwide even to people who are not familiar with the European Economic Area.

RoHS compliant

RoHs is a standard for restricting hazardous substances and is a directive from the European Union that specifies the use of hazardous materials found in electronic products. The substances banned under RoHS are lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd), hexavalent chromium (CrVI), polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE). 2

No chemicals here!

RoHS compliance is relevant in addition to the Low Voltage Directive and EMC Directive. The restricted materials are hazardous to the environment and pollute landfills, and are dangerous in occupational exposure during manufacturing and disposal. Our staff is highly trained to handle and manufacture RoHS compliant products using dedicated equipment and workstations. We are sure to use specific, unique part numbers to segregate RoHS components to be correctly kitted and routed through the facility.

Anti-flicker technology

Flicker is any change in the brightness of electrical light. The healthy person won’t be able to see it with the bare eye or even, but long-term exposure could cause damages or cause sensitization. There seems to be the widespread misconception that flickering may be harmful or compromise the therapeutic window of red-light therapy. 3 Flicker is present in all AC driven lights and occurs when the electrical current oscillates back and forth.

Thousands, medical studies have used LED lights and haven’t found side-effects of too much flicker. If there were such effects, they would be reported, requirements or standards will be enforced, and the market would follow suit. Red-light therapy is also under FDA approval. Pulsing might be beneficial and even is commonly used in research designs. But pulsing is generally a different occurrence than a flicker.

All electrical appliances create magnetic and electrical fields. EMF (or electromagnetic field) is a by-product of using any electronic device. No matter what you do, you can’t stop EMF from being created; you can prevent it from spreading. Electromagnetic fields appear as low- or high-frequency wavelengths. There is a difference in the effects on the human body. Higher frequency wavelengths can damage cells or DNA. Lower frequency wavelengths (such as the ones from a red-light therapy device) do not break chemical bonds.

We can’t stop EMF but control it from spreading unnecessarily. We designed our Luminousred devices with all of this and mind; there will be no unnecessary EMF exposure with all of our devices. In our Luminousred devices, we make sure to properly shield those additional components we’ve talked about as well, to ensure minimum EMF emission and exposure. We have zero EMF emissions at a distance of 4-6″ inches.
